Physician Training

Northern Health is part of The Central North West Basic Physician Training Consortium incorporating Austin Health, Northern Health, Bendigo Health, and Wimmera Healthcare Group (Horsham Hospital).

The Consortium is renowned for its physician training program and has an excellent pass rate in the FRACP Written and Clinical Exams.  The Consortium runs mock written exams in early February which emulates true exam conditions. A feedback session gives the opportunity for trainees to discuss the questions and answers. Directors of Physician Training and Senior Medical Registrars at both Austin and Northern Health organise an extensive series of topic tutorials, long and short case clinical tutorials and arrange Saturday morning practice clinical exams to adequately prepare trainees for the clinical exam. The practice clinical exams are held at Austin Health, Northern Health and Bendigo Health.
