Hospital Medical Officers

Northern Health offers a wide range of rotations for all Medical, Surgical and Emergency inclined doctors with each stream designed to provide a variety of rotations and experiences to support career development and training/entry requirements.

Each year we recruit to over 200 Hospital Medical Officers being both Australian and Internationally trained Doctors who rotate through four specialty rotations of 13-weeks. Hospital Medical Officers are employed by Northern Health either through the Post Graduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) computer match or via direct appointment.

HMO2 Positons

Northern Health’s HMO2 (PGY2) year offers a variety of rotations with training programs broadly divided into four streams; General, Medical, Emergency and Surgical.

Our General, Medical & Surgical HMO2 positions will be filled via the computer match process conducted through the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV).  Therefore, applications must be made to both Northern Health and the PMCV.

HMO2 applicants interested in multiple streams will only need to apply once to Northern Health.  Within the application process, applicants will have the opportunity to preference streams accordingly (General, Medical and/or Surgical).
